I was brought up in a Christian home, but one with many tensions and difficulties. I began to pray and to experience something of God for myself in my teenage years. A breakthrough came when I was about 16. My sister started attending a youth group. After some time, I was eventually persuaded to go along. When they prayed I felt the same inner warmth that I had felt in my own brief prayer times and from then on I attended regularly and took part in all their activities. A further milestone for me was reading “The Cross and the Switchblade” and “Run, Baby Run”. I was gripped by these personal testimonies of how God had rescued drug addicts and transformed their lives. I remember reading late into the night, thinking to myself, almost subconsciously “so it is real after all!” Since then I have experienced for myself that God is real and that he answers prayer. I have followed Jesus for more than 40 years. He has never let me down and he has kept me through many tough times. I have got things wrong many times, but I have great peace in knowing deep down that the God of the Bible is true. He is the God of all the vast universe and yet he loves me and has forgiven me. I love to worship him and I look forward to meeting him one day. On that day my salvation will be complete and I will worship him as I ought. That will be a great day!
